Recent work has shown that a high fat diet (HFD) leads to reduced BDNF protein content and impaired BDNF signaling that is similar to what is observed with Alzheimer’s disease (Molteni et al., 2002; Sharma et al., 2012; Morselli et al., 2014; Baranowski and MacPherson, 2018). This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
