Studies in a mouse model of malignant glioma show that SOX10 is not sufficient to induce glioma tumorigenesis (Ferletta et al., 2007), likely due to the cross inhibitory relationship of SOX10 and NFIA that is present in development and is conserved during tumorigenesis in glioma (Glasgow et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene SOX10 and malignant glioma.
