BCL2 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia: The last gene that we validated for its importance in CLL is BCL2 gene that is downregulated in 3D cultured MEC1 cells and encodes for a protein that suppresses apoptosis in a variety of cellular systems including factor-dependent lymphohematopoietic and neural cells, thus it is used as a therapeutic target for B-cells malignancies in particular in CLL (44).
