The susceptibility of hypertensive patients to severe COVID-19 outcome and the fact that SARS-CoV-2 uses ACE2 to enter the cells raised a question regarding the possibility of RAS components modification by antihypertensive agents, with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) being in the center of interest (Wang et al., 2020c). This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and COVID-19.
