Endothelial dysfunction is suggested to be involved in the progression of COVID-19 because of the atypical manifestations among patients such as cardiac injury (Wang et al., 2020a) and hypercoagulability as measured by an increase in D-dimer and von Willebrand factor (VWF) levels (Spiezia et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene VWF and endothelial dysfunction.
