ACE2 and COVID-19: The apparent relevance of ACE2 physiology in COVID-19 has come in two ways, both supporting immense clinical focus on its modulation: 1) as a receptor for SARS COV2 (ClinicalTrials.gov identifiers: NCT04335136) and 2) as an enzyme for the generation of ANG 1–7 (ClinicalTrials.gov identifiers: NCT04311177, NCT04312009, NCT04338009, NCT04338009, NCT04394117, and NCT04394117) (Bhalla et al., 2020).
