In metabolic syndrome patients, in the absence of glucose, insulin homeostasis disturbances and insulin resistance led to high amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids (18 : 2 n6, 18 : 3 n3, 22 : 4 n6) and lower concentrations of SFA (12 : 0, 14 : 0, 16 : 0, 17 : 0) in plasma. Here, INS is linked to metabolic syndrome.
