It has been further revealed that five miRNAs (miR-103a-3p, miR-155-5p, miR-200a-3p, miR-146a-5p, and miR-210-3p), which have been confirmed as dysregulated miRNAs based on plasma miRNA expression profiles of T1DM patients and control individuals, could regulate genes involved in the innate immune system-, MAPK-, apoptosis-, insulin-, and cancer-related pathways [12]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
