TXNRD3 and neoplasm: A lower mitochondrial volume is associated with the Warburg effect, which also contributes to tumor progression,44 as well as being a critical metabolic characteristic of cell stemness restoration,45 while both stemness maintenance and the Warburg effect contribute to sorafenib resistance.46,47 Another recent study48 suggested that mitochondrial TXNRD3 confers drug resistance via a redox-mediated mechanism, further supporting the findings of our current study.
