We have found this ability to differentiate the cells very useful in the study of PD-L1 in glioblastoma samples, because PD-L1 can be expressed by tumor cells, microglia, macrophages, and lymphocytes, with a wide range of patterns of tumoral morphology, making it very challenging to discriminate a cell with only single IHC (Figure 6) (Chen et al., 2018). The gene discussed is CD274; the disease is glioblastoma.
