In the present research, CRC patients received either capecitabine (a 5-FU chemotherapy drug) or capecitabine combined with oxaliplatin after surgery, LC3 expression correlated with worse OS compared to patients non-expressing LC3, demonstrating that, in CRC patients, an elevated expression of LC3 protein may affect the efficacy of capecitabine-related chemotherapy. The gene discussed is MAP1LC3A; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
