Type I and type III collagen represent the most abundant types of collagen found in fibrotic/cirrhotic liver tissues (Rojkind et al., 1979; Aycock and Seyer, 2009; Decaris et al., 2015), and activated myofibroblasts are known to be one of the greatest producers of these collagen types during liver fibrosis deposition (Shang et al., 2018).
