EMPA, a selective inhibitor of SGLT2, has been reported to exert cardioprotective effects in several cardiovascular diseases, including diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) (Li et al., 2019), myocardial infarction (Andreadou et al., 2017), cardiorenal syndrome (Yang et al., 2019), and doxorubicin-induced heart failure (Oh et al., 2019). Here, SLC5A2 is linked to familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
