In schizophrenia, there is either reduction in primary antioxidants levels including superoxide dismutase (SOD), CAT and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), or a decrease in the secondary antioxidants such as glutathione, vitamins B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folate), B12 (cobalamin), C, D, and E (Schweizer et al., 2008; Mitchell et al., 2014).
