In a study to evaluate the effects of standardized C. zanthorrhiza extract and its marker compound, xanthorrhizol, on hyperglycemia and inflammatory markers in high-fat diet–induced obese mice, xanthorrhizol was found to significantly inhibit inflammatory cytokine release, such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and C-reactive protein (CRP), in the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue (Kim M-B et al., 2014). Here, CRP is linked to Hyperglycemia.
