NPPB and ventricular tachycardia: The differential response of brain natriuretic peptide reduction between men and women was not reported in these studies, but it is established from the MADIT-CRT trial that women experienced lower rates of HF or death at 4 years, a greater decrease in left ventricular end-diastolic volume, a greater increase in left ventricular ejection fraction at 1 year after CRT defibrillator implantation, and a greater reduction in ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation compared with men (26–28).
