PLAGL1 is a paternally expressed imprinted gene on chromosome 6q24, a region where paternal duplication or loss of methylation at the PLAGL1 DMR causes transient neonatal diabetes mellitus (TNDM) locus owing to PLAGL1 overexpression (35–37, 49, 52, 53). Here, PLAGL1 is linked to transient neonatal diabetes mellitus.
