Rapamycin, an inhibitor of mTOR, could inhibit the cystic progress of ADPKD kidneys by downregulating cyclin A, cyclin B, cyclin 1D and cyclin E, which are associated with cell cycle, thereby preventing abnormal proliferation of renal epithelial cells (Li A. et al., 2017). Here, MTOR is linked to autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
