The elevated concentration of immunomodulatory molecules like interleukins (IL-2 and IL-7), interferon (IFN-γ), G-CSF, MCP-1, MIP-1α, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) (Table 1) in plasma is found in COVID-19 patients suggesting the cytokine storm–induced inflammation causing cardiac as well as pulmonary injuries (Mehta et al., 2020).
