In mid-March, at the start of the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic in Europe, the hypothesis that the renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs), including angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), increased the risk, and/or severity of the disease [1–3], was widely spread.
