Very recently, Saqcena et al.4 showed that SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes are central to the maintenance of differentiated function in thyroid cancers and loss-of-function mutations in SWI/SNF complexes lead to radioiodine-refractory cancer and resistance to redifferentiation therapies by MAPK pathway inhibitors. This evidence concerns the gene SMARCA1 and cancer.
