Nonetheless, although a potential role for COPG1 downstream in virus infection/trafficking of virus glycoproteins through the secretory pathway cannot be ruled out, the data presented here show that the predominant effect of COPG1 depletion is the inhibition of virus entry, potentially by reducing the level and presentation of the HSV1 receptor nectin1 at the plasma membrane.
