This same group, using high-dimensional B-cell analysis, has documented a similar cell population in patients with advanced COVID-19 correlating their presence with inflammatory markers such as CRP and IL-6, which are characteristic of phase 3 COVID-19, suggesting shared pathways between a prototypic autoimmune disease and the hyper inflammatory phase of COVID-19 [81, 82]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is COVID-19.
