BAALC is a protein whose function has not been widely studied, however it is abundantly expressed in a range of cancer types, including glioblastoma (7), AML (9–11), melanoma (12), gastrointestinal stromal tumors (13), and triple negative breast cancer (14) suggesting that it may play a role in tumorigenesis. The gene discussed is BAALC; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
