The function of AnxA1 has been studied in a variety of disease models in order to explore this agonist’s potential as a novel anti-inflammatory therapeutic agent, including models of inflammatory bowel disease (52), rheumatoid arthritis (53), chronic atherogenesis (54), myocardial reperfusion injury (55), myocardial infarction (56), and now ocular inflammation.
