Non-survivors demonstrated significantly more elevated levels of CRP (151.90 [115.48, 203.25] verses 64.70 [11.50, 67.90], P=0.011), IL-6 (98.19 [57.78, 151.60] verses 14.62 [8.86, 43.61], P=0.037) and procalcitonin (3.04 [2.36, 3.50] verses 0.80 [0.67, 1.18], P=0.009) compared to survivors, indicating dysregulation of immune response might be highly involved in the pathological process of COVID-19, contributing to the poor prognosis.
