GRIA1 and GRIA2 mRNA levels correlated positively with the inferred relative abundance of VSMCs (Figure 5B) and negatively with the inferred abundance of T cells and macrophages in plaques (Figure 5C), further supporting an association between AMPA-type glutamate receptors and VSMCs in atherosclerosis.
