Increased levels of VEGF‐R produced by pericytes from different tissues with inappropriate production of VEGF were described in atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, and patients with a history of preeclampsia and peripartum cardiomyopathy,9, 35, 36 and was proposed as an important factor contributing to ED in this population. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and peripartum cardiomyopathy.
