The primary indications for NICU admission for the study population were preterm birth, low-birth-weight, respiratory problems, congenital anomalies, infectious diseases, birth asphyxia, gastro-intestinal diseases, jaundice, birth trauma, other reasons (n = 75, 35, 20, 20, 9, 4, 4, 3, 1 and 5, respectively) and maternal reasons (thyroid diseases, diabetes, anti-Ro/SSA autoantibodies and immune thrombocytopaenic purpura; n = 10, 5, 5 and 4, respectively). Here, TRIM21 is linked to gastrointestinal disease.
