When comparing the IL-10 serum levels between every two groups, we found that IL-10 serum levels were lower in exudative AMD than in controls (8.0 (2.7) pg/ml vs. 8.8 (2.4) pg/ml, p = 0.049) and also in patients with early AMD (8.0 (2.7) pg/ml vs. 9.2 (1.7) pg/ml, p = 0.017) and atrophic AMD (8.0 pg/ml vs. 9.4 (1.5) pg/ml, p = 0.008). This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and age-related macular degeneration.
