The correlations seen in both cohorts between levels of PRO‐C6 and markers of metabolic dysfunction, BMI, waist and CRP further strengthen the hypothesis that the PRO‐C6 also reflects the matrikine endotrophin, as endotrophin was previously found to be associated to adipose tissue fibrosis, insurgence of insulin resistance and recruitment of inflammatory cells [21, 24].
