The Wnt‐induced transcriptional gradient of YAP mRNA expression is sufficient to explain the resulting gradient of YAP protein along the crypt‐villus axis, as well as the elevation of YAP protein observed in Apc mutant tumours, while the Wnt‐induced TEAD1/2/4 mRNA expression is even more potent. This evidence concerns the gene TEAD1 and neoplasm.
