A recent study, which was conducted with Sprague Dawley rats suffering heart failure after acute myocardial infarction, indicated that Qiliqiangxin capsule, a traditional Chinese medicine with cardioprotective effects, seems to maintain cardiac function and protect cardiomyocytes from mitochondria-dependent apoptosis induced by oxidative stress through activating the PI3K/AKT signaling and upregulating phospho-GSK3β [36]. Here, AKT1 is linked to heart failure.
