Of note, lysosomal dysfunction triggered by decreased activity and expression of TFEB has been implicated in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases, such as diabetic kidney disease and nephropathic cystinosis,37, 38, 39 as well as various neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease.17, 18, 19, 20.
