miR-132/212 has been found to be pro-hypertrophic and anti-autophagic, and its elevation is considered a necessary and sufficient factor for inducing cardiac hypertrophy by targeting the forkhead box O3 (FoxO3) transcription factor gene, thus activating calcineurin/NFAT signalling and leading to the hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes [112]. This evidence concerns the gene FOXO3 and cardiac hypertrophy.
