Out of these eight genes, only two, SEPT9 and SOX17, were methylated in all three cancers; FOXA1, RARβ2, and RASSF1A methylation was detected in lung and prostate cancer with 64% sensitivity and 70% specificity; and methylation of GSTP1 and SOX17 could discriminate lung cancer from prostate cancer with 93% specificity [47]. The gene discussed is FOXA1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
