In many studies, the CETP gene has been experimentally associated with HDL levels in humans, and it currently stands as a potential drug target for the treatment of atherosclerosis.54, 55, 56, 57, 58 Thus, our analysis in a relatively small TWAS (n = 3,856) identified a known drug target that has been studied extensively in the context of preventing cardiovascular disease. Here, CETP is linked to atherosclerosis.
