The dysfunction of LSECs facilitates the recruitment of macrophages in NASH through promoting KCs activation to release CCL2, which is the ligand of C-C motif chemokine receptor (CCR) two mainly expressed on monocytes and macrophages and thus is critical for the recruitment of macrophages (Tateya et al., 2011; Miura et al., 2012). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
