Mice administered S. persica (500 mg/kg body weight per day for 15 days) and then PCM (S. persica and PCM group) demonstrated marked protection against PCM-induced hepatocellular damage, as revealed by significant reduction (p<0.01) in the elevated serum levels of AST, ALT, ALP, creatinine, and uric acid seen in mice that received PCM only (PCM group) (Table-1). The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is paracoccidioidomycosis.
