It was established that TRPV4 effects on cell migration are relayed by phosphorylation of AKT (P-AKT) and activation of Rac1 (Ou-yang et al., 2018), a member of the Rho GTPases family known for its central role in cytoskeleton remodeling, cell motility and cell adhesion as well as for its involvement in the enhanced migration of several tumor types including GBM, colon, colorectal and ovarian cancer (Guo et al., 2015; Guéguinou et al., 2016; Qin et al., 2017; Zhou et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and ovarian cancer.
