Focusing on the initial stage of i.vag. infection (day 6 post infection) (Gupta et al., 2015; Gupta et al., 2016), we interrogated the effect of miR-135a on CD4+ T cell function (Figures 2 and 3) which has been implicated in early stages of genital chlamydial infection (Maxion et al., 2004; Roan et al., 2006; Jayarapu et al., 2009; Farris et al., 2010; Lee et al., 2010; Yu et al., 2010; Olive et al., 2011; Jiang et al., 2017; Naglak et al., 2017; Lijek et al., 2018). Here, CD4 is linked to infection.
