In agreement with a transcriptional function of STAT3 in cytoskeleton regulation in T-cell lymphomas, we recently reported that in the context of ALK-ALCL, STAT3 controls the expression of a novel long coding RNA (lncRNA) called BlackMamba. BlackMamba is a chromatin-enriched lncRNA that controls the expression of several cytoskeleton-related targets including Ras Homolog Family Member U (RhoU), RhoA and PAK2 through the transcriptional regulation of DNA helicase HELLS and its recruitment to regulatory regions of cytoskeleton genes (Figure 4). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
