The strong temperature dependence of neutrophil migration towards H2O2 provides further support for a critical role of TRPM2 in neutrophil migration in response to H2O2, and moreover suggests a reason why fever may be beneficial in fighting infection, because an elevation of temperature by only 2°C, corresponding to a mild fever, gives a five-fold increase in neutrophil migratory ability towards low levels of H2O2.
