We found that many of these peaks are located near important genes that are involved in inflammation pathways and disease pathogenesis, such as CSF1, which modulates the differentiation of monocytes to macrophages [48], and IL1RN (also known as IL1RA), which encodes the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist protein that has been associated with autoimmune diseases including RA [49]. The gene discussed is CSF1; the disease is autoimmune disease.
