P2RY2 and triple-negative breast carcinoma: Our previous study also showed that MDA-MB-231 cells, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells that show highly metastatic properties, release higher levels of ATP and show greater P2Y purinoceptor 2 (P2Y2R) activity than non-TNBC cells with low metastatic potential, such as MCF-7 cells; the study also showed that P2Y2R activation by ATP plays an important role in tumor progression and metastasis by regulating various responses in cancer cells and modulating crosstalk between cancer cells and endothelial cells (ECs) [4].
