During SARS-CoV-2 infection, ACE-2 is under expressed and cannot form the ACE2–angiotensin1–7–Mas receptor axis, resulting in an increase in inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6, interleukin-7, tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin-2, interleukin-1 beta, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, and transforming growth factor-beta, associated with a periodontal disease [56]. This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and periodontal disorder.
