Considering that most cancer cells display a constitutively active level of AKT activity [122,123] (for reviews) and that BAX is one of the multiple targets of this kinase [84,85], combining the action of BH3 mimetics with the stimulation of BAX mitochondrial localization even in the unfavorable context of AKT activation might help to refine therapeutic treatments.
