Recently, a case-control study in a South Asian population showed for the first time an association between the homozygous polymorphic T genotype of the C677T polymorphism and the risk of breast cancer in older patients (>35 years) suggesting that the reduction of enzyme activity of MTHFR for breast cancer risk may be related, among other epigenetic factors, to age. This evidence concerns the gene MTHFR and breast cancer.
