Recently, a case-control study in a South Asian population showed for the first time an association between the homozygous polymorphic T genotype of the C677T polymorphism and the risk of breast cancer in older patients (>35 years) suggesting that the reduction of enzyme activity of MTHFR for breast cancer risk may be related, among other epigenetic factors, to age. Here, MTHFR is linked to breast carcinoma.
