A recent study reveals that genetic or pharmacological inhibition of karyopherin β1 (KPNB1) potentiates TRAIL-induced apoptosis selectively in GBM cells partially through accelerating caspase-8 cleavage via downregulating c-FLIP [86], proposing that the combination of KPNB1 inhibitor and TRAIL could rewire the TRAIL receptor signaling and abrogate TRAIL resistance. The gene discussed is KPNB1; the disease is glioblastoma.
