It had been reported that CCT in PD patients seems to produce an increase in the level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) [181] and variations in the dopamine transporter gene (DAT1) which granted lower striatal DAT availability and, as a consequence, a higher level of dopamine in the extracellular environment which strengthened dopaminergic pathways [182]. This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and Parkinson disease.
