This is supported by the study of Shafren et al. [164] which showed that RD rhabdomyosarcoma cells, which express low levels of DAF and CAR, but do not express ICAM-1, were susceptible to infection by CVB3 but not by CVA21, while melanoma cells were more sensitive to CVA21 than to CVB3, because they lack CAR. This evidence concerns the gene CD55 and infection.
